Episode 5 [HD]

Sweet dreams are made of this...
"The Syndicate" is not for anyone, just for those of us who enjoy a fairy tale, broken hearts, broken dreams, happy endings, and thick Northern England accents. Set in the rather grim industrial city of Leeds, the five-episide mini-series tells us about five ordinary, mostly decent, working class individuals, all employees of the same discount supermarket, who form a lottery syndicate.

Their future seems a bit bleak, the supermarket has been acquired by a larger chain and all five face redundancy, that horrible British euphamism for out of a job and up a creek. Each character accepts the news differently...some with stoicism, others with panic, some are driven to acts of desperation. This is soap opera manipulation at its best, and within the first 20 minutes, I was hooked.

Just when things look especially dodgy for all concerned, lightning strikes and The Syndicate's lottery numbers come up. Each member wins one million pounds, about $2.5 million...a lot of...

8 million lottery win fuels co-worker dysfunction
If this was a novel, it would be a bestseller, then adapted into a mini-series.
The Syndicate, a grocery lottery ticket buying group, wins. How will millions change 5 lives, and those closest to them. It's what we ask ourselves while scratching tickets, or checking numbers, praying for THE BIG WIN. This 2012 TV series vividly details the price of wealth. Kudos to the writer (also sometimes director, producer) Kay Mellor.

The Syndicate is a character study extraordinaire. You become enraptured with 5 leading roles, plus people close to them. Viewer emotions may include hate, love, endearment, despair, disdain, and more. You WILL be moved. The lucky winners: Brothers Jamie (Matthew Lewis- Harry Potter) & Stuart (Matthew McNulty- Lark Rise to Candleford); Leanne (Joanna Page- Love Actually); Denise (Lorraine Bruce); and Mgr Bob (Timothy Spall- King's Speech). Series filled with star actors.

SDH SUBTITLES optional for five 54min hard-pausing-between...

Fabulous series
Real drama, pathos, human emotions. Amazingly well written and acted. My wife and I were absolutely engrossed from the first minutes.

The Booby Trap

Entertaining
Very satisfied with the purchase but was lost that they don't have seasons 3 and 4 since I have missed them. Then this season started where I had no clue. Wish other seasons were available.

I can't get enough
I love this couple and Love following their journey. This episode of the birth of Duke is the sweetest yet.

LOVE!
Love this couple, love em, love em! So inspiring and entertaining to walk beside on their journey! Fun show! Start from beginning if you can!

The Colonel

Great Series
Here's another example in the argument that TV is doing more adventurous stuff than the movies.
This show is very well done.
When I missed an episode and couldn't wait for it to pop up on on Demand, I went the Amazon route and it was a good experience.

Check this out- It's Homeland with a 1980's twist
I really enjoyed the pilot episode. It has the "Homeland" feel to it, but that's about it. This is another story altogether. In Homeland, its one potential guy who might have turned terrorist. But in this, the debate is if the KGB even exists, and in 1981, they were beginning to access the threat. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys play married KGB spies. No one would ever know they are Russian spies. They live in a perfect neighborhood and have two children. They blend in perfectly. Of course, the children are Americans and have no idea what their parents do. I think this show has a lot of potential. I will be interested to see how it plays out and what complications arise for Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings, especially now that their neighbor is an FBI agent. It's nice revisiting the past. SO far, so good.

Easily Five Brilliant Stars (Murkier Stripes)
Having watched each of the first 3 episodes at least twice, I can say that I am definitely a "believer" in this excellent new series. "The Americans" is for viewers who thrill to think and feel "out of the box"; who are able to suspend personal ideologies as a way to explore competing mindsets. And most definitely for people who do not wince at a serpentine/circuitous vision of good vs. evil. Without the influence of the anti-hero trend (Think Homeland, Dexter), this series could probably not even exist.
But on to the episode (3), Gregory: My only complaint is that this episode seems much too short/ a little rushed. An awful lot of revelation gets packed into these 45 minutes. We learn that Elizabeth has been leading a double life in more ways than one; that Phillip's allegiances' won't be played without consequences ensuing. Real spies won't kiss and make up, or will they? Gregory seems to have been the fulcrum of the Jennings's teeter-tottering relationship for 14 years. If...

Everybody Loves Bubble Guppies
My daugher loves the cartoon, so what else do I need to say. Watching this content on the iPad has been great since we discovered the Amazon app.

Highly recommended
My 3yr old son loves Bubble Guppies. I think the show is so adorable and very educational. I just wish they would put more episodes on DVD.

Bubble guppies
The show is amazing and funny. My little girl sits through every episode without moving. I think going with amazon prime might be cheaper though.

Drugged Season II
I like documentaries and I found this one very moving. I use it for group and would recommend it for anyone.

Under the influence and feeling the magic will
Anybody, whose is acquainted with my reviews knows that I'm a big fan, National Geographic and when you combined the people it National Geographic with the drug world what you get is downright entertainment. National Geographic's is not afraid to show the dirty unglamorous side of drugs the side that people really need to see they've taken each particular narcotic and done an episode on how it affects your body and your mind you will find them much more entertaining if you play along at home and sort inject or swallow whatever particular drug they're talking about in the episode if you're still conscious it may increase your viewing pleasure although I wonder if National Geographic's had this type of viewing in mind that Johnny has a strong feeling that a lot of druggies like to watch these drug documentaries is it going to stop the average 13-year-old from banging heroin I can't say but didn't entertain me hell yeah remember rock out with your cock out Johnny Irish

An Interesting Series on the Down Under Continent
NOVA: Australia's First 4 Billion Years Season 1 gives a look at the geological history and paleontology of an important but often neglected continent--Australia. The series is informative and the photography is gorgeous.

My husband and I enjoy series of this type, such as "How the Earth Was Made". This series focuses on Australia and provided many facts concerning the Down Under continent that I had not heard before. Highly recommended.

Paleontology comes to life
If you already know something about the history of life on Earth, this is a great journey through the highlights of that history using examples found in Australia.

Good video
great video, I use it in my geology class. Graphics good, information great, it follows along a time line. A well presented video.

I want more Forever Young!
This was a great way to show the contrast in the two age groups. LOVED each and every character. Great show. Hope to see more episodes in the future.

Don't Mind the (Generation) Gap
I really enjoyed this brief series. 6 under 30's sharing a house with 6 over 70's. After initial distrust and tredidation these twelve housemates reached open- minded surprise insights. It was fun to watch them enjoying each other's company, sharing ideas, and having fun TOGETHER! I'm 62 and have a 72 yr old "forever young" brother and our late parents were born in 1905 and 1910. Mixing generations really works! I thank God my family exposed me to such an array of music, humor and sensibilities. I saw the same growth speeded up on this delightful show. Many of us fans who wrote in are not usually into reality shows. This one is a cut above and leaves you feeling good!

Watched Only One Episode
The premise of this reality show is good but can't see going very far with this type of show. We only watched one episode, so I may not be the one to give a good review of this show.

The set also includes the Emmy-winning "Robin's Reckoning" with corresponding commentary by Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski. As always, the voice talents never cease to amaze. Here are the contents of this set:

Disc 1:
Eternal Youth

The True Batman Lives!
After years of steadfastly ignoring the ardent wishes of its fan base, Warner Brothers is finally continuing to release its landmark Batman: The Animated Series in quailty DVD complete box sets, instead of dolling the episodes out at a sluggish four or five at a time! The "seasons" are somewhat complicated to explain as the Animated saga is actually comprised of three separate "series" that originally aired from 1992-1995, with some of the episodes being replayed in the upcoming "season," hence the designation of "Volume" rather than "Season" in the DVD box set releases.

As has been noted, this 4-disc set features 28 episodes including the first appearances of Ra's Al Ghul, voiced by David Warner, his daughter Talia, voiced by Helen Slater, in the facinating episode entitled, "Off Balance." The set also includes the Riddler, voiced by John Glover, in, "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?" This release also includes the Emmy-winning "Robin's Reckoning," which...

The Cape & The Cowl Conspiracy - Batman takes on a thief who steals information and rare items by threating his victims with death traps. This time, this thief wants to steal the mask of Batman.

Robin's Reckoning: Pt. 1 - Robin's past is revealed for the first time. We also see the first signs of conflict between Batman & Robin as both hunt down the murderer of Robin's parents seperately! This...

Another great Superman volume
Like several other reviewers, I am looking forward to this release. I only recently finished Volume 1 of "Superman" and cannot wait for more episodes.

Just to clarify something a previous reviewer mentioned...the three-part episode "World's Finest" (cross-over with Batman) originally aired as three episodes of "Superman: The Animated Series" and IS part of this show. The single-disc "Batman/Superman Movie" was released before WB started putting out season sets of "Batman" and "Superman."

I'm looking forward to the other Batman cross-over episodes, as well as appearances from Aquaman and Green Lantern in future volumes, as well as the great episodes coming in Volume 2.

no worries about missing episodes...
People have complained about "missing episodes" - don't worry, there are actually 18 more in the series which, based on the episode list of 18 in this volume, means we're looking at a volume 3 in the near future. Chronologically, this volume is right on track and the others will inevitably come.

Superman and Batman are such different characters, it's hard to "compare" the series as many reviewers simply prefer the Batman character, so they naturally like the Bat eps better. I do think some of Timm and Dini's most thoughtful work overall was on early episodes of the Batman animated series, but they've still given us the best version of Superman to hit the screen since Richard Donner made us believe a man can fly.

The Demon Within

The New Batman Adventures
These episodes were produced two years after the original Batman: Animated series ended, and were made for the KidsWB Saturday morning block, which was still relatively new at that time. What's notable about these episodes is that the character designs have been totally revamped, and this was when the "DC animated universe" really began, as Batman stories would often cross-over with the Superman series and vice-versa.

The real shame about The New Batman Adventures is that KidsWB basically stopped production after 24 episodes, so we don't get to see the new revamps as much as we'd like (ex. Riddler, unfortunately, only shows up in minor cameos). A host of new villains and femme fatales appear, including Calendar Girl, Roxy Rocket, and the (dreaded) Farmer Brown and his mutant farm animals. Etrigan and The Creeper make their first animated appearances, but only get an episode each (Etrigan was later fleshed out in Justice League). Most telling is that certain plot threads...

From The New Batman Adventures!
New adventures await you and the Gotham Knights in Batman: The Animated Series, Volume Four - The New Batman Adventures! Revamped from the dark deco days of the original series with a simpler yet stylized new look, the New Batman Adventures featured the Gotham Knights: Batman & Robin, Batgirl and Nightwing in some of their most memorable episodes. Introducing the voices of Mathew Valencia as Tim Drake, the new Robin and Tara Charendoff-Strong (replacing Melissa Gilbert-Brinkman) as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, this 4-disc (521 min.) set contains all 24 episodes from the series which include classics "You Scratch My Back", "Old Wounds" and fan-favorite "Over the Edge". Other highlights include "Legends of the Dark Knight" which acknowledges the works of Bill Finger, Dick Sprang and Frank Miller. Not to mention "Never Fear" featuring the most horrific version of the Scarecrow (chillingly voiced by Jeffrey Combs) ever animated. The New Batman Adventures not only refined the designs of the...

Batman Ends
The episodes compiled in this fourth collection of the animated Batman series is from the Kids WB New Batman Adventures, which hit Saturday mornings a while after the classic Batman: The Animated Series was over with. Most of the voice cast was retained (including Kevin Conroy as the Dark Knight), but the animation underwent a complete overhaul, which would be seen on the animated Superman series as well as the current Justice League Unlimited. The animation transformation isn't for everyone, but it works for the most part, and the storytelling is still top notch. In the episodes collected here, we learn why Dick Grayson quit being Robin and became Nightwing, and we also see the origin of the new Robin, Tim Drake. DC character the Creeper makes his animated debut, and there's a delicious new, and horrifying, twist and look to the Scarecrow (voiced by Jeffrey Combs). The "World's Finest" episodes are here as well, which is the first (of many) cross overs with Batman and Superman...

Carried Away/Monster in Charge [HD]

A "Roarsome" New Disney Junior Show!
My two daughters (ages 3 and 6) are Disney Junior kids. We have had a lot of luck over the years with some high quality Disney cartoons coming out for the younger kids on the Disney Junior channel. We were really excited to see this new show come out recently. Right off the bat, they released a dozen or so shows very quickly which was nice. We have them all on our DVR at this point and the girls ask for them pretty regularly. My littlest one adorably calls it "Henry Higglymonster" because she gets the name confused with another old favorite, Higglytown Heroes.

The show takes place in the town of Roarsville. The show centers around Henry, a 5 year old child, who just happens to be a monster. Henry gets in lot ofsituations and adventures with his monster siblings (his brother Cobby, sister Summer, and baby brother Ivor) and friends. The situations are fun and silly and teach children how to solve problems and overcome obstacles along the way. In an early episode,...

Fun for Toddlers!
My son was glued to this cartoon at his doctors office. I found season one on amazon and he adores it. I really like that Henry has a can do spirit about all the situations that he finds himself in.

great cartoons
My daughter loves them. She is just three years old and she stays watching the whole show. I definitely recommend it for toddlers.

Project Runway Season 11 Reunion Special [HD]

The Worst Season of Project Runway Ever!
I love Project Runway and have enjoyed the past 10 seasons. Sadly, I don't know what happened this season. It is truly awful! The designers are not up to the challenges and the clothes are hideous. The fact that Michael Kors is gone doesn't help matters. Heidi - what happened?

It's like a train wreck that I watch again and again
It's so bad, but so good. The guest judges this season are hilarious-- Bette Midler, Joan Rivers, and more. I'd watch this show just to see judge Zach Posen's smile and hear his funny comments. He alone inspires me to dress more creatively.

everyone works in teams all season
this team aspect is working ok for the earlier episodes. i have my doubts as to how well it will work when we are done eliminating the obviously weak. the three people eliminated so far had really bad outfits so it was not a surprise to see them go whether they were team members or not.

one of the strongest designers is daniel esquivel from austin, texas. not only is he wonderfully talented but he is courteous, amiable, helpful and supportive on his team plus displays leadership qualities. since the whole contest is now team based, he is a very serious contender as winner. the native american woman from the southwest also does very artistic work and is wonderful at fabric manipulation. she works ok on a team so may go the distance. although others are showing promise, these are the two standouts so far and they are on the same team.

tim gunn, nina garcia, and heidi are back but michael kors is not. i am not that upset by a new judge. yes, the new judge...

Show 26 [HD]

Love this show!
Russell Brand is pure genius, and his comedy style is perfect. This show is fantastic and I enjoy every minute of it.

Funny audience interactions
I think this show continues to get better and funnier. Brand is best when he is playing with normal people- his improv is great. The final segment with the audience members was really funny, especially that cute kid , Cole. Who they should get to be a regular. Brand giving relationship advice is just crazy and it would be a wonderful ongoing segment! Fun stuff,

Wasn't What I Thought BUT
This show is extraordinary! I love Russel Brand, he's a favorite comedian but I had no idea he could pull off something quite like this.

I thought it would be all stand up. I was wrong! Sure, there were bits but this show was more then "come watch Russel do stand up"

He even tries to take WBC! It was amazing to watch him take on those "people" and actually try to get an sensical answer of him. It was pure gold.

Keep it up Mr. Brand, and FX when is this coming out on DVD?

Granny is Inked and Ami is Angry! [HD]

Drama-less Season
This may be my favorite season of NY Ink yet. It reminds me more of the early seasons of Miami Ink where you got to know the artists some, but the focus was on the tattooing. Thank God they decided to skip the drama this season and focus on the reason people watch the show, great tattoos. The only problem I have with to talk about is the lack of shows. Really TLC? Five episodes?

Awesome Granny!
That's so great an 80 yr old woman with her 1st tattoo! I really like the new artists this season. So glad Jessica is loooong gone!

Awesome
anyone who likes Tattoos should watch this show!
Ami is the best and I love his crew!

Brothas & Sisters

Single-cam com with heart
I just really wanted to use that headline. If Scrubs threw away the heavy-handed attempts at character development, it would be Happy Endings. This sort of "60 jokes per second" style rises or falls based on it's writing and delivery, and, both are stellar. Eliza Coupe and Damon Wayans Jr, who play a couple on the show, are the two standouts.

Love this show!
This show is so funny to me. I am not sure why it got canceled but I love it and hope another network picks it up.

Witty fun dialogue
Kind of a "Modern Family" made up of a young group of friends in Chicago. The dialogue is always witty and entertaining and the storyline are never run of the mill predictable. Very fun show for all mature audiences!!

Call of Duty

Pretty good show.
If you like dogs then this is a pretty good show. If you are really into cats then you might want to look for something else to watch.

Great Show
Love to see working dogs at there best. Great to see the hard work the trainers put in to make sure we are safe.

A show for dog men
I love this show. But I am biased. Why, because I have trained at Vohne Liche. I can tell you from experience these guys are for real. This show captures Kenny, Danny and the rest of the crew at VLK as they are. There is no Hollywood dress up here. These guys train hard. Here's why, if they don't get it right...if they produce a substandard dog, or a substandard handler, somebody will die. It is that plain and simple. That being said, these men and women work hard, Kenny is demanding. People who work for him have even more colorful ways of describing him. Do they also have fun? oh yeah, they have fun, they have comraderie, and great esprit de corps. If you ever get the chance to meet these guys in person, you will see they are not actors. Even when they are shown doing extracurricular activities (like turtle-ing), they are not doing it for the show, they do stuff like that all the time.

I recommend this show to everybody. There is something special about people that train...

The Sins of the Father

Redundant, little character development
The conflict (basis for all plots) is always the same:
* Arthur Pendragon is conflicted with his father Uthur Pendragon over loyalty vs. what his feels is right.
* Uthur Pendragon is a static character (almost comically) who demands loyalty, hates/abhores magic.
* Gaias (Merlin's mentor) evolves very rapidly into becoming Merlin's-father figure but then stays the same.
* Morgana (Uthur's charge/ward) evolves over time but almost never shows any internal conflict over those changes (which any real person would exhibit).
* Guenevere changes and starts off as obsequious mouse to a woman with mettle, but again, her evolution is sporadic and inconsistent.
* Merlin is the only interesting character. Very sympathetic to the viewer, he gains attention and captivates the audience throughout the seasons. He adapts, changes, grows with each new episode. That doesn't seem intuitive to the viewer. We all like to see people improve from hour to hour, from month to...

Merlin's Magic Returns (SPOILERS)
The second series is even better than the first, bringing more depth to the characters. You have Merlin falling in love for the first time with the Lady of the Lake, an Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot love triangle, Uther marrying a Troll! Arthur meeting his dead Mother, The Witchfinder accusing Merlin, Morgana & Gaius of using magic. Morgana realises that she really does have the power of magic & starts using it for 'The Dark Arts', the reappearence of the mysterious Mordred & Morgause & The Great Dragon demanding even more & more of Merlin! In the series finale Merlin finally gets to meet his Father whom he assumes is dead after what his Mother has previously told him & finds out that he is 'The Last Dragon Lord' only then to have him cruelly taken away from him. Merlin inherits the title of Dragon Lord which develops more in season 3 when he can command the Great Dragon to do his bidding.

I have bought both music CD's that accompany the series they are dramatic, haunting &...

A consistantly engaging series.
I have bought the first two seasons of Merlin and he is a remarkable person. Many people with his powers wouldn't have the patience to serve the sometimes slow-witted Arthur but time after Merlin perseveres. I'll probably buy the third season in the near future.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (SteelBook Packaging) [Blu-ray]

This Product Does Not Include A Digital Copy
While the movie is certainly worthy of praise and is a very excellent sequel to the first one, my review will be focusing on what now has become a monumental case of false advertising about getting a "Digital Copy" product. To be fair to the movie, I did give this a 5 star rating. There are other excellent descriptions of the movie already published under reviews so I am focusing on the product.

What you are getting with this and any other "Ultraviolet" product is NOT a digital copy. You don't get a copy of anything. All you get is the right to create an account to access the servers of the so called "Ultraviolet" system. Hence, if you are at an airport, you get the joy of using your data plan to capacity (and paying actual additional dollars if you have exceeded capacity) only to realize that while on the plane, you have no access to your purported digital copy. This is one of the biggest scams in the digital age. Advertising to let you think that you are getting a "copy"...

Betting against Sherlock Holmes- is a game I'm afraid you'd lose!
After the very good opening film in the Guy Richie Sherlock Holmes franchise- A Game Of Shadows takes the series to another level. There is a real feeling that the actors have a firmer grasp on their characters. It can also be said that Richie seems to be in more of a flow in this second installment. How many times can we actually say that a second film in a series improves upon the first?

First and foremost, Robert Downey Jr is an extremely gifted actor. Most people know that, but his command of this role is exceptional. You have probably seen the extent of his preparation in regards to the proper English accent he had to master- before ever getting infront of the camera! His acting in this film is up there with Chaplin and his other great performances. He is Sherlock Holmes and I believe any version of Sherlock in the future will be hard pressed to equal Downey's version. And Sherlock definately needs a worthy Watson. Enter Jude Law. The perfect sidekick, who has to shake...

Remember how much fun the first Pirates of the Caribbean was?
Well this film is that level of fun. After kicking into gear they quickly take an old and familiar setting and bring it into the modern day (figuratively that is, since this is actually set in the late 19th century). They manage to do this without making it too youth oriented. The true fun in this film will be in rewatching it, the quick banter and fun plot twists that turn out to be thought out well in advance (for the most part), will only be more enjoyable upon multiple viewings. The layers, much like those found in the Pirates script, are multiple and cerebral. They hit the viewer without our full awareness and when we later realize this it brings a smirk if not a smile to the face. Many plot points that seem by chance or appear to be toss away jokes end up returning and playing a larger role in the story, it's nice to see some effort in a big budget blockbuster - especially when its a sequel.

The action and staging of set pieces might not properly belong in the era...

Are You Better Off?

LOVE this show!
This show had me hooked from the first 30 seconds of the pilot. I just started watching it about 2 weeks ago, and love it so much that I finished all four free seasons and bought the TV pass so I could see season 5. The stories are hilarious, and the cast is just perfect. How has it taken me so long to find this show?? I am so glad that I did! A bonus is that it is genuinely funny without having to rely on crude humor or dumbed down potty talk.... it is rare these days to find a show that is original, witty, and so addictive all in one. This is my new favorite show - great way tp unwind at the end of a long work day. Watch it, you will not be disappointed (and at approximately 22 minutes an episode, what do you have to lose? Watch it!).

Hilarious!!!!
I love this show! I just started watching it a month ago because it was free with my amazon prime membership. Boy have I been missing out! This is literally one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. All of the cast and characters are great and work great together, they are totally hilarious. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

The best written comedy to ever grace your TV screen.
Parks and Rec is the most consistently funny, and well written sitcom I've ever seen. Every episode makes me laugh more than any other show, and most episodes pull at my tiny heart-strings, too. Any time I try to start watching a new show, like Community or 30 Rock, I always subconsciously compare it to Parks and Rec, and I end up not liking the show as much.
Each character is so wonderfully written and perfectly cast. I started watching because I liked Rashida Jones from The Office, and Aubrey Plaza from Funny People. I instantly liked Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson and Aziz Ansari's Tom Haverford. As I continued to watch, I developed a man-crush on Chris Pratt's Andy Dwyre. And now I actively seek out other shows and movies with Amy Poehler and Adam Scott (Party Down is amazing, too!) Even the side characters on the show are incredibly funny. Perd Hapley, Jean-Ralphio, Bobby Newport, Louis C.K.'s Officer Dave...
Every joke is perfectly delivered, and the recurring bits (Lil...
