Gunsmoke: The Eighth Season, Vol. 1

Great! But trouble playing some discs on DVD recorder.
This is a revised review. I am generally happy with all of the "Gunsmoke" and "Have Gun, Will Travel" DVDs. This is due to the high quality of the audio and video and to the fact that both were among a handful of the very best TV westerns ever produced. However, I have been having chronic problems playing these discs on my Panasonic DVD Recorder, which functions both as a DVD player and recorder. Almost every set has at least one disc that will not even start and is rejected by the machine as "incompatible." Sometimes I am able to get them to play by repeatedly opening and closing the disc drawer. I do not have this problem with any other discs that I've purchased or burned myself. Oddly, the discs play perfectly on my older, standard DVD player.

I wondered if anyone else has experienced this problem with the CBS programs DVDs.

Too Expensive
For the first time I may not buy the next available season of Gunsmoke ( Season 8)that will be released on May 7th. What is the justification for increasing the price? I have enjoyed buying the previous seasons but I will not continue buying at the present prices.

We still watch the reruns of the original especially those in the earliest days. Matt Dillon is a character based on Wyatt Earp but James Arness hits the nail on the head. Arness should know a little about this as he was wounded in the invasion of Salerno in Italy. We especially enjoy the early films with Dennis Weaver and his limp. Most fans wanted Matt and Miss Kitty to marry but that was not to be. Ken Curtis was alright as Festus but the show was not the same.
When Arness passed away there was almost a national wake by those who grew up with those characters.

Flashpoint: Seasons 1-5

Buyer Beware
The product was not as it was advertised. You do not get season five at all and there are three other shows not even included in seasons 1-4. It was expensive to buy and not get what you were expecting. Not all of the DVD's are in show order for some reason so it was very disappointing.

seasons are not complete
i thought i got a good deal on this set until i found out i was only getting 62 of the 75 episodes...i guess the last 13 episodes will be released later this year as the final season of Flashpoint...what really makes me mad is when you read the original air dates listed on the DVD set season 2 started two weeks after season 1 ended and season 5 started two months after season 4...so the way i look at it is they split season 1 and 2 - 4 and 5 in half when the put them on DVD just so they could make more money...i still love the show and I'm sure i will but the final season when it comes out since i already have the first 62 episodes BUT if i had known i was only getting 62 episodes i would not have got them

Disappointed
I bought all 5 DVDs but all episodes are missing. The 5th season is the 4th season. The 5th is not there. There is no 5th season to buy so the last season is not available on DVD. This pisses me off what a let down from you amazon.

I was very disappointed with this dvd.........it was grainy and looked like a copy of a copy. The case was cheap and looked like the disc info was copied from a picture of the vhs case when this came out on video tape.

Have Gun Will Travel: The Complete Series

all for now
Plus: All the episodes. Minus: There are no extras, just all the episodes. I'm enough of a fan that when Amazon offered for a good price that I got it now rather than wait any longer to see if it comes out on blue ray with extras. If it will comes out on blue ray there better be tons of extras to make it worthwhile buying again.

The Classic of all Classic Westerns!
My boyhood entailed nightly television watching. I grew up with Bonanza and Gunsmoke and Wild Wild West and countless other westerns. Have Gun Will Travel ended when I was only six and a half, but it never ceased to linger in my earliest memories. The series was written by some of the greatest of the era, like Gene Roddenberry (Star Trek) and Bruce Geller (Mission: Impossible). Theirs, all my favourites, become classics of the small screen... with justification. Have Gun Will Travel was nominated for three Emmy Awards. When I learned that this full series was to be released at long last, I was ecstatic. I had hoped that the set would be specially packaged in a single box or binder, with a booklet containing photographs and information about the series, etc., but they have chosen to simply bundle all of the previously issued seasons. In the end, it is the DVDs that count. All 225 episodes are included. This is the classic of all classic westerns, so what more could one want? There must...

Have Gun Need Gun
Except for Dead Mans Gun this is the only western that was actually good. Paladin taught people moral lessons and unlike the dead mans gun they survived them. At least most of them did. You should get this show.

Flashpoint: The Fifth Season

Season 5 US is actually the rest of season 4
The US season 5 release is actually the rest of the season 4 episodes (I believe it will be 11 episodes) due to the way the show was aired here....the actual season 5 will be released (hopefully later this year) as The Final Season....

Hope it's the entire fifth season
This is easily my favorite show on TV these days. Very upset that it is coming to an end. I just hope that they are releasing the entire season and not just a few episodes like they did with season 4. I don't know if anyone knows this but with season four you only got the first 12 episodes. Episodes 13-24 which aired on ION TV were never released on DVD in the United States. Even if you buy the entire series on DVD from Amazon and B&N you are still only getting 63 out of the 75 episodes. But never fear because I am about to let you in on a little secret that not many Flashpoint fans in America know about. If you want to get the complete Flashpoint seasons on DVD simply go to [...]. This is the official online store for CTV's hit series Flashpoint. The complete sets are Region 1 for the U.S. and Canada and a little on the pricy side but you will get all of the episodes for seasons 1 through 4. Season five has not yet been given a release date in Canada but last year season 4 was...

misleading
I am so upset. I just paid nearly thirty dollars for the season five of flashpoint just to find out AFTER I open it, that it is all season four on online. Now I can't return it and I have seen every one of these. They are not listed in the description. They are only listed on the inside cover so that you must open it. On these three disks are. grounded 10-18-11 cost of doing business 10-25-11 wild card 11-1-11 a new life 11-8-11 call to arms 11-22-11 day game 11-29-11 blue on blue 12-6-11 the war within 12-13-11 team player 01-10-12 priority of life 01-17-12 slow burn 01-24-12. look them up before you buy and make sure that it is what you want. For me this is money thrown away. The disks and the case seem to be nice quality so if it is what you want then go for it but the title fifth season is a mistake.
